Professor Kyuheon Kim's research lab specializes in advanced signal and image processing, with a strong focus on point cloud compression, optical materials for deep ultraviolet applications, and speech processing for low-resource languages. The lab develops innovative compression techniques such as video-based point cloud compression (V-PCC) and geometry-based point cloud compression (G-PCC), while also exploring the optical properties of wide-bandgap semiconductors like β-Ga₂O₃. Additionally, the lab contributes to speech technology by creating datasets and models for regional dialect detection in Bangla, using deep learning architectures such as stacked autoencoders and extreme learning machines. An effective method for combining multiple features of image retrieval
