研究室紹介

Professor Kyung Ah Park's research lab specializes in anterior segment and posterior segment imaging, with a focus on optical coherence tomography (OCT) applications in pediatric and adult ocular diseases. The lab investigates retinal and choroidal layer thickness profiles in various conditions, including preterm development, optic neuritis, and myopic optic disc tilt, leveraging advanced imaging techniques like spectral-domain and enhanced depth imaging OCT. A key direction involves applying deep learning to automate the detection of ocular pathologies from fundus photographs, particularly for myopic tilted discs. The lab also explores long-term complications of intraocular lens implantation, especially in pseudoexfoliation syndrome.

Analysis of Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Preterm Children: Retinal Layer Thickness and Choroidal Thickness Profiles
Kyung‐Ah Park, Sei Yeul Oh
SJR Q1Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual ScienceOA

PURPOSE: To compare retinal layer thickness and choroidal thickness profiles in preterm and full-term children using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). METHODS: We performed horizontal and vertical SD-OCT crosshair scans through the fovea with and without an enhanced depth technique in 31 premature and 30 full-term children. Retinal layer and choroidal thicknesses were measured at various locations including the fovea and 1.0 and 3.0 mm nasal, temporal, superior, and inferior

CHOROIDAL THICKNESS IN HEALTHY CHILDREN

SJR Q1Retina

The data, obtained using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography, provide the choroidal thickness profile of healthy children. The characteristic choroidal thickness profile in children suggests a redistribution process of choroidal tissue with aging.

Analysis of spectral domain optical coherence tomography measurements in optic neuritis: differences in neuromyelitis optica, multiple sclerosis, isolated optic neuritis and normal healthy controls

SJR Q1Acta OphthalmologicaOA

PURPOSE: To compare the retinal layer thickness of eyes with optic neuritis (ON) and that of control eyes and ON eyes with and without neuromyelitis optica (NMO) or multiple sclerosis (MS). METHODS: Horizontal and vertical SD-OCT scans of the fovea were undertaken for 56 patients with ON with and without NMO or MS and for 24 healthy controls. Patients with ON were divided into three groups: NMO, MS and isolated ON without NMO or MS. The thickness of each retinal layer was compared between ON and

Pseudoexfoliative material on the IOL surface and development of glaucoma after cataract surgery in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome
Kyung‐Ah Park, Changwon Kee
SJR Q1Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery

We report 4 cases of pseudoexfoliation syndrome in which pseudoexfoliative material appeared on the intraocular lens (IOL) surface and glaucoma developed more than 8 years after cataract surgery. The IOL haptic was located in the ciliary sulcus in 3 eyes and in the capsular bag in 1 eye. This report suggests that careful follow-up is essential to monitor the development of glaucoma in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome, particularly when an IOL is implanted in the sulcus.

BACKGROUND: It is necessary to consider myopic optic disc tilt as it seriously impacts normal ocular parameters. However, ophthalmologic measurements are within inter-observer variability and time-consuming to get. This study aimed to develop and evaluate deep learning models that automatically recognize a myopic tilted optic disc in fundus photography. METHODS: This study used 937 fundus photographs of patients with normal or myopic tilted disc, collected from Samsung Medical Center between Apr

We evaluated changes in parafoveal and peripapillary vessel density in chiasmal compression after decompression surgery using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A). Sixty-two eyes with chiasmal compression for which preoperative and postoperative (4-6 months) OCT, OCT-A, visual field (VF), and comprehensive ophthalmic data were available, and 44 healthy eyes were evaluated. Vessel densities of the superficial retinal capillary plexus (SRCP), deep retinal capillary plexus (DRCP), and r
