Professor Kyung-Min Kim's research lab focuses on plant stress biology, particularly the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying plant tolerance to abiotic stresses such as heavy metals, drought, salinity, heat, and UV radiation. The lab investigates the role of secondary metabolites—especially flavonoids like kaempferol and quercetin—in enhancing stress resilience and mitigating oxidative damage in crops like rice. A key research direction involves genetic engineering and endophyte-based strategies to improve plant growth and stress adaptation through modulation of flavonoid biosynthesis and metal tolerance mechanisms.
