Professor Kyung-Sun Kang's research lab focuses on epigenetic regulation, mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy, and the impact of environmental endocrine disruptors on developmental and immune disorders. The lab investigates how epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation and histone modification regulate cellular senescence and stem cell function, particularly in human umbilical cord blood-derived MSCs. It also explores the therapeutic potential of MSCs in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases like atopic dermatitis, as well as the toxicological effects of common environmental chemicals such as butyl paraben on reproductive development. Additionally, the lab examines the role of signaling pathways like PI3K/AKT in stem cell maintenance and the anti-cancer effects of drugs like metformin on cancer stem cells.
