Professor Kyung-Won Pang's research lab specializes in oral and maxillofacial regenerative medicine, with a primary focus on hard and soft tissue regeneration around dental implants. The lab investigates biomaterials such as xenografts, collagen matrices, and growth factors—including rhBMP-2—to enhance osseointegration and prevent post-surgical complications like gingival recession. Using preclinical animal models, particularly mongrel dogs and rabbits, the lab evaluates the efficacy of guided bone regeneration, connective tissue grafting, and novel grafting strategies in improving implant stability and long-term outcomes. Their work bridges clinical dentistry and tissue engineering, aiming to optimize clinical protocols for predictable and predictable tissue regeneration in implant dentistry.
