研究室紹介
Professor Kyungmin Choi's research lab specializes in advanced materials and catalysis, focusing on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for sustainable applications in isotope separation, single-atom catalysis, and biomedical therapeutics. The lab develops innovative MOF-based materials for deuterium extraction and tumor therapy, leveraging unique pore architectures and metal coordination for high-performance catalytic systems. Additionally, the group explores transition-metal-catalyzed organic transformations, including challenging C–N and C–C bond formations, with an emphasis on practical and selective methodologies.

15Deuterium has been recognized as an irreplaceable element in industrial and scientific research. However, hydrogen isotope separation still remains a huge challenge due to the identical physicochemical properties of the isotopes. In this paper, a partially fluorinated metal–organic framework (MOF) with copper, a so-called FMOFCu, was investigated to determine the separation efficiency and capacity of the framework for deuterium extraction from a hydrogen isotope mixture. The unique structure of
The conversion of aryl halides to primary arylamines with a convenient and inexpensive source of ammonia has been a long-standing synthetic challenge. Aqueous ammonia would be the most convenient and least expensive form of ammonia, but such a palladium-catalyzed amination reaction with a high concentration of water faces challenges concerning catalyst stability and competing hydroxylation, and palladium-catalyzed reactions with this practical reagent are rare. Further, most reactions with ammon
Abstract Diaryl difluoromethanes are valuable targets for medicinal chemistry because they are bioisosteres of diaryl ethers and can function as replacements for diaryl methane, ketone, and sulfone groups. However, methods to prepare diaryl difluoromethanes are scarce, especially methods starting from abundant aryl halides. We report the Pd‐catalyzed aryldifluoromethylation of aryl halides with aryldifluoromethyl trimethylsilanes (TMSCF 2 Ar). The reaction occurs when the catalyst contains a sim
Transition metal-mediated catalysis routinely enables substrates of multiple π-systems to be efficiently coupled with various carbon nucleophiles along with simultaneous ring formation. This transformation, however, remains unexplored in connection with pericyclic processes. Reported here is a protocol for cycloalkene synthesis based on the merger of rhodium catalysis and a retro-ene reaction. The approach allows alkyne-tethered hydrazones and organoboronic acids to undergo a cascade of addition
Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is one of the most important bacterial pathogens causing diarrhea. The resistance of S. typhimurium to antimicrobial agents, which has recently been isolated from patients, is causing serious problems. We investigated the effects of salicylic acid (Sal) and acetyl salicylate (AcSal) on the susceptibility of S. typhimurium to cephalosporin antibiotics, which are known to increase resistance to cephalosporin and quinolone antibiotics. The MIC of cephalosporin a
Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are widely used as substrates for creating single‐atom catalysts due to their abundance of ligands, facilitating enzyme‐like activity for biomedical applications. However, the high‐temperature calcination process for single‐atom catalysts limits economical, efficient, and large‐scale synthesis. Here, a simple room‐temperature synthesis of MOF‐based single‐atom and metal cluster catalysts is presented for tumor therapy. Fe/MOF is obtained through a coordin
Helicobacter pylori vacuolating toxin (VacA) appears to be unusually stable, not only against extreme pH conditions or high temperatures, but also against common organic solvents or detergents. Under acidic conditions, its activity was markedly increased in the manner of temperature-independent, suggesting a spontaneous activation. A similar finding was also observed under alkaline conditions, however, it should have an appropriate temperature. From these observations, the mechanisms of VacA act

Primary sinonasal B cell lymphoma is usually presenting with unilateral nasal mass. Mainly its pathologic subtypes by WHO classification are NK/T cell and diffuse large B-cell type in order of frequency. A-65-year-old-male came to emergency room, complaining with loss of visual acuity and ocular pain for one month. PNS CT showed right unilateral nasal mass involving the orbit, skull bass and the sphenoid sinus. We performed the endoscopic sinus surgery, final pathologic diagnosis was diffuse lar
Abstract Mosquito saliva contains a number of immunogenic molecules that can induce allergic reactions in host animals. The oriental tiger mosquito, Aedes togoi (Theobald), feeds on both humans and animals and is also a vector of various pathogenic viruses. However, information on immunogenic antigens in the saliva of this mosquito species is scarce. In this study, we used immunohistochemical staining and confocal microscopy to determine the fine structure of the acini lobes of salivary glands o
