Professor Mi A Jang's research lab focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological function, muscle cell metabolism, and clinical microbiology, with a strong emphasis on translational applications. The lab investigates neuron-glia interactions in synaptic plasticity and auditory processing, explores serum-free cell culture systems for regenerative medicine and lab-grown meat, and applies multi-gene sequencing to improve species identification and clinical interpretation of nontuberculous mycobacteria. Additionally, the lab contributes to forensic science by examining the reliability of drug detection in fingerprints, particularly distinguishing between dermal contact and ingestion.
