Professor Mi Hyun Song's research lab specializes in pediatric orthopedics and regenerative musculoskeletal medicine, focusing on innovative treatments for skeletal injuries and congenital conditions in growing patients. Key research directions include the biomechanical and biological evaluation of biodegradable implants—particularly Mg-Ca-Zn alloys—for use in pediatric orthopedic surgery, as well as the application of regenerative therapies such as low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) to enhance fracture and bone regeneration. The lab also investigates long-term skeletal outcomes, including femoral overgrowth in congenital pseudarthrosis and complications from osteoid osteoma, with a strong emphasis on minimizing surgical intervention and improving functional recovery in skeletally immature patients.
