Professor Mi-Ji Kim's research lab specializes in geriatric health, focusing on the assessment and management of sarcopenia, frailty, and body composition in community-dwelling older adults. The lab conducts large-scale, population-based cohort studies to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and clinical implications of sarcopenia, obesity-sarcopenia, and cognitive-muscle interactions. Using advanced techniques such as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (SMF-BIA), the lab evaluates body composition and physical function to improve early detection and intervention strategies in aging populations. Their work contributes significantly to the development of evidence-based diagnostic criteria and clinical tools for geriatric syndromes in older adults in Korea and beyond.
