Professor Mi Kyung Kim's research lab specializes in translational and population-based biomedical research, focusing on gastrointestinal cancers, aging-related health outcomes, and the role of nutritional factors in chronic disease prevention. The lab investigates molecular markers for gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), such as DOG1/TMEM16A, and explores dietary patterns in relation to colorectal and gastric cancer risk. It also conducts large-scale cohort studies, including the Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study (KFACS) and studies on micronutrient supplementation and cardiovascular health. The lab integrates molecular pathology with epidemiological approaches to improve early diagnosis and preventive strategies for age-related and diet-related diseases.

Clinical outcomes and risk of recurrence among patients with vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia: a comprehensive analysis of 576 cases

Patients with VAIN are at high-risk of recurrence, but the risk of progression to vaginal cancer is relatively low. Laser or excision provides higher regression rate than topical agent or observation, and high-risk HPV positivity is a risk factor for recurrence. Whatever the treatment method is used, however, the high rate of recurrence warrants long-term follow-up surveillance.

고등학생의 성적이 학업스트레스에 미치는 영향: 성별 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 한국청소년패널조사(KYPS)의 중2패널 3차년도와 4차년도 자료를 이용하여 청소년의 성적이 학업스트레스에 미치는 영향에서의 성별 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 인문계 고1과 고2학생들을 대상으로 위계적 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 청소년의 성적은 학업스트레스에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 성적수준에 따라서 학업스트레스를 받는 정도가 다르게 나타났다. 고1의 경우는 성적이 낮은 집단이 학업스트레스가 높았으며, 고2의 경우에서는 성적이 중간인 집단의 학업스트레스가 성적이 상․하위인 집단이 받는 학업스트레스보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성별에 따른 주요변수의 차이를 분석했을 때, 여자 청소년은 남자 청소년보다 학업스트레스, 불안․우울, 부모애착과 친구애착이 유의하게 높았으며, 남자 청소년은 여자 청소년에 비해 자아통제와 자기신뢰감이 높게 나타났다. 마지막으로 청소년의 성적과 학업스트레스의 관계에서 성별 조절효과는 학업스트레스가 높은 고2에서만 나타났다. 남녀 청소년 모두에게 성
