Professor Mijung Jang's research lab specializes in diagnostic and interventional breast imaging, with a strong focus on improving the accuracy of breast cancer detection and characterization using advanced ultrasound techniques, elastography, and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD). The lab investigates novel imaging biomarkers and targeted therapeutic approaches, such as nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for HER2-positive breast cancer. Research also extends to rare head and neck tumors, including basal cell adenoma, with detailed cross-sectional imaging characterization using CT and MRI. The lab emphasizes clinical translation by evaluating how imaging strategies impact biopsy decisions and treatment outcomes.

15Combined use of US elastography and color Doppler US increases both the accuracy in distinguishing benign from malignant masses and the specificity in decision-making for biopsy recommendation at B-mode US.
Elastography was found to have a diagnostic performance comparable to that of conventional US for the differentiation of nonpalpable breast masses. The authors conclude that BI-RADS category 4a lesions with an elasticity score of 1 probably do not require biopsy.
To evaluate the value of the computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) program applied to diagnostic breast ultrasonography (US) based on operator experience.US images of 100 breast masses from 91 women over 2 months (from May to June 2015) were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Three less experienced and 2 experienced breast imaging radiologists analyzed the US features of the breast masses without and with CAD according to the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) lexicon and categorie
For sonographically guided core biopsy of the breast, the rate of underestimation of ADH was 48%. This rate was lower for lesions evaluated with 11-gauge vacuum-assisted biopsy (22%) than for those evaluated with 14-gauge automated gun biopsy (65%). This finding was particularly true of smaller lesions (< or = 2.0 cm) and for lesions of the mass-only type.
Basal cell adenoma is a rare benign salivary gland epithelial tumor, usually involving the parotid gland. We report CT and MR findings of three cases with basal cell adenoma occurring in the parotid gland. The three cases presented here demonstrate a well-circumscribed tumor, which showed a cystic and solid, or the pure solid mass. They were well enhanced after contrast matter injection. The solid portion of the mass was isoattenuated at CT, with intermediate signal intensity on T1- and T2-weigh
Trastuzumab-conjugated Lipo[MNP@m-SiO2] is a potential treatment tool for targeted drug delivery in Her2/neu-positive breast cancer.
The rate of upgrading to malignancy for benign IDP without atypia was very low, suggesting that close clinical and radiologic observation may be sufficient for patients with benign IDP without atypia on CNB under proper settings.
OBJECTIVES: To compare the diagnostic performance of radiologists and to determine interobserver and intraobserver variability with regard to differentiation of benign and malignant thyroid nodules using prospectively obtained 2-dimensional (2D) and 3-dimensional (3D) sonograms. METHODS: This study had Institutional Review Board approval, and the requirement for patient informed consent was waived. Conventional 2D and 3D sonograms were obtained from 82 patients (age range, 20-77 years; mean age,
This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements in malignant breast masses, and to determine the influence of mammographic parenchymal density on this reproducibility. Sixty-six patients with magnetic resonance findings of the mass were included. Two breast radiologists measured the ADC of the malignant breast mass and the same area on the contralateral normal breast in each patient twice. The effects of mammographic parenchymal density, hist
The aim of this study was to investigate the follow-up results and characteristics of oval circumscribed lesions with fast initial enhancement on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer.Preoperative data from consecutive patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer between 2010 and 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. Only MRI reports containing, "oval shape, circumscribed margin, and fast initial enhancement," were extracted and analyzed. Follo
Purpose : The aim of this study was to determine the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features associated with re-excision due to the presence of a positive margin after breast conserving therapy (BCT) in breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods: We reviewed the records of 286 consecutive breast cancer patients who received BCT between January 2006 and December 2007. Among 246 patients who had undergone BCT, 38 (15.4%) underwent immediate further surgery due to positive margin status. We an
