Professor Min-hyeon Jeong's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research, particularly in the fields of periodontal disease immunology, fungal pathogenesis, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. The lab investigates inflammatory cytokines in periodontitis, antifungal mechanisms of action on *Candida albicans*, and innovative surgical techniques such as single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy. Additionally, the lab explores rare and complex gynecological conditions, including metastatic actinomycosis and retroperitoneal Castleman’s disease, emphasizing diagnostic challenges and advanced interventional strategies.

Actinomycosis is a chronic disease characterized by abscess, tissue fibrosis and draining sinuses. Pelvic actinomycosis in women most commonly occurs during ascending infections, which are usually associated with intrauterine devices; however, secondary hepatic actinomycosis, while rare, can also occur. 본 증례는 무월경, 요추부 통증, 하지 부종을 호소하는 32세 여성에서 증상의 발생, 진단 및 치료에 대한 것으로 환자는 2번 요추의 압박골절, 원인불명의 양하지 부종, 심한 골다공증을 보였다. 환자는 골다공증의 원인에 대해 여러 전문 진료과에 협진 의뢰 후 부신 선종에 의한 쿠싱증후군으로 진단되었다. 부신절제술, 물리치료, 약물 치료를 통해 골다공증의 진행을 예방하였다.

외음부 악성 흑색종은 전체 외음부 악성 종양의 10%를 차지하는 드문 질환으로 5년 생존율은 8-54%이고 주로 폐경 후 백인 여성에게 발생한다. 다른 피부의 악성 흑색종과 비교하여 외음부의 악성 흑색종은 조기에 조직 또는 림프절, 혈관에 침윤되기 때문에 그 예후는 대부분에서 불량하고 침윤 깊이가 예후를 판정하는 가장 중요한 인자로 여겨진다. 이전에는 광범위한 침습적 수술과 림프절 절제가 유용한 수술로 여겨져 왔으나 생명 연장에 도움이 되지 않아 최근에는 이전의 광범위한 수술 대신 덜 침습적이 수술이 행해지고 있다.
