Professor Min Woo Kim's research lab focuses on microbial metabolism and synthetic biology, with a strong emphasis on Streptomyces species as model systems for understanding the regulation of natural product biosynthesis. The lab integrates multi-omics approaches—such as transcriptomics, translatomics, and genome-scale metabolic modeling—to decode complex regulatory networks and engineer microbial systems for the sustainable production of pharmaceuticals and high-value compounds. Additionally, the lab investigates host-microbe interactions and host-directed therapeutics, particularly in the context of inflammatory diseases like colitis and liver failure, exploring bioactive molecules such as allyl isothiocyanate and their mechanisms involving key pathways like NRF2 activation. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge systems microbiology, metabolic engineering, and translational medicine.
