研究室紹介

Professor Mingyu Park's research lab specializes in atmospheric and environmental chemistry, focusing on the characterization of airborne particulate matter and trace metals in urban and industrial environments. The lab investigates the size distribution, chemical composition, and sources of fine particulate matter, including ionic species, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and heavy metals, with particular emphasis on pollution sources in industrialized regions like Ulsan, South Korea. Research directions include environmental risk assessment, source apportionment, and the health implications of airborne pollutants in urban and industrial settings.

In this study, the size distributions of airborne particulate matter (PM) associated ionic species (Cl-, NO3-, SO42-, Na+, NH4+, K+, Mg2+, and Ca2+) and pollution sources were investigated. PM samples were collected using two micro-orifice uniform deposit impactors (MOUDIs) with 11stage cut-sizes (0.056, 0.10, 0.18, 0.32, 0.56, 1.0, 1.8, 3.2, 5.6, 10.0, and 18.0 µm) at residential and industrial sites in Ulsan, Korea. At both sites, anthropogenic ions (SO42-, NO3-, and NH4+) contributed to over

Journal of Korean Society of Environmental EngineersOA

Objectives : Cigarette smoking is an important factor in human exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Machine-smoking methods have been devised to evaluate inhalation exposure to mainstream cigarette smoke. However, there have been only a few studies that have employed these methods for PAH monitoring in Korea. Methods : Total particulate matter samples were collected from the mainstream smoke of five different cigarette types using the ISO 3308 standard smoking method. The samples

SJR Q1Environmental Geochemistry and HealthOA

The levels, contamination degrees, and spatial distributions of 13 metals-aluminum (Al), arsenic (As), barium (Ba), cadmium (Cd), cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), vanadium (V), and zinc (Zn)-were investigated in soils from suburban, urban, and industrial sites in Ulsan, the largest multi-industrial city in South Korea. At the industrial sites, the mean concentrations of As (13.4 mg/kg), Cd (1.49 mg/kg), Cu (129 mg/kg), Ni (12.8 mg/kg), P
