研究室紹介

Professor Minsuk Na's research lab specializes in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, with a strong focus on innovative hearing restoration and chronic ear diseases. The lab investigates advanced bone conduction hearing devices, such as the SophonoⓇ implant, to improve hearing outcomes in patients with conductive or mixed hearing loss, particularly in complex surgical cases. It also explores biomarkers and inflammatory endotypes in chronic rhinosinusitis and develops individualized surgical strategies for challenging conditions like recurrent cholesteatoma. The lab emphasizes minimally invasive, patient-centered approaches with a goal of enhancing clinical outcomes and reducing complications.

Various bone conduction hearing aids have been widely used to improve hearing fuction for the last 30 years. SophonoⓇ, a newly introduced device without percutaneous abutment, improved disadvantages of previously used bone conduction hearing aids. Recently, we experienced a case of SophonoⓇ implantation in a patient presenting with mixed hearing loss followed by tumor surgery. The patient gained air conduction threshold of 60 dB HL compared to preoperative pure tone audiogram and a speech discri

Cholesteatoma is a benign disease but it has an aggressive feature that may lead to serious conditions. Many strategies have been introduced for the treatment cholesteatoma, yet no definite single method has been established: it should be treated respectively regarding the completion of cholesteatoma, conservation of tympanic mucosa, proper ventilation of middle ear and preservation of hearing. A 25-year old patient visited our clinic for right-sided facial paralysis of 5 days. The patient under

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a highly prevalent disease that imposes a significant socioeco-nomic burden. Since the emergence of inflammatory endotyping in the mid-2010S, the devel-opment of therapeutics targeting specific inflammatory endotypes of CRS has highlighted theneed for biomarkers that are non-invasive, accurate, and both biologically and clinically mean-ingful. Here, we summarized recent updates on biomarkers derived from peripheral blood, nasal tissue, and nasal fluid samples to pr
