Professor Park Soon Seok's research lab specializes in social movements, political memory, and democratization in contemporary East Asia, with a particular focus on South Korea. The lab investigates how collective memory and historical narratives shape political mobilization and democratic transitions, especially in the context of state repression and social resistance. Key research directions include the role of memory work in post-authoritarian societies, the interplay between trauma and activism, and the long-term impact of historical events such as the Gwangju Uprising on civic engagement. The lab employs qualitative archival research and oral history methodologies to analyze the construction and transmission of political memory.
