Professor Pung-Man Jeong's research lab specializes in pediatric surgical disorders, with a focus on congenital anomalies and postoperative care in neonates and infants. Key research directions include the management of rare pediatric tumors such as fibrous hamartoma of infancy, biliary atresia, and lymphangiomas, as well as optimizing postoperative nutritional support through peripheral parenteral nutrition in neonatal surgery. The lab also emphasizes quality improvement in clinical documentation using real-time (concurrent) quality assurance methods to enhance medical record accuracy and patient care efficiency.

15Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is an uncommon benign fibrous proliferation, usually presenting as a solitary nodule. A rare example of multiple fibrous hamartoma of infancy is described. Two masses which developed in the upper arm of a 10-month-old boy were successfully excised, and one month later three small nodules 2 cm below the previous operation field appeared. It will be further elucidated whether multiple forms and early recurrence are related or not as cases accumulate.

Lymphangiomas or cystic hygromas are quite commonly seen in children.During a 22-year period, from January 19S0 to December 2001, 117 patients with lymphangioma were treated and followed in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Hanyang University Hospital.The male-to-female ratio was 1.9: 1 (77:40) with a male preponderance.As for the age incidence at time of diagnosis, 10 (S.5 %) patients were noted under 1 month of age, 37 (31.6 %) were between 1 month and 1 year of age, 1200.3 %) between 1 a
