Professor Pyowon Park's research lab specializes in cardiac surgery and critical care, with a strong focus on valvular heart disease, extracorporeal life support, and surgical management of acute cardiovascular emergencies. The lab investigates outcomes and innovative techniques in tricuspid and mitral valve replacement, particularly emphasizing long-term survival, prevention of reoperation, and preservation of native cardiac structures. Research also extends to advanced circulatory support, including percutaneous cardiopulmonary support and extracorporeal life support in heart transplant recipients, with an emphasis on predictive scoring systems and patient selection. 15OBJECTIVE: Tricuspid valve replacement (TVR) has a high postoperative mortality, despite recent advances in perioperative care. We report the results of our experience in TVR with an emphasis on early mortality and morbidity and long-term follow-up. We investigated the utility of comprehensive scoring systems for organ failure compared with the duration of extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in predicting survival after heart transplantation.
