Professor Sae Rin Oh's research lab specializes in medical imaging and radiological diagnostics, with a focus on leveraging advanced imaging techniques—such as PET, MRI, and CT—to improve cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment prediction. The lab investigates the correlation between molecular biomarkers (e.g., EGFR, KRAS mutations) and functional imaging parameters (e.g., SUV on FDG-PET), as well as the role of multiparametric MRI in characterizing renal cell carcinoma and predicting tumor behavior. Their work also extends to non-invasive assessment of metabolic liver diseases, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), using imaging-based risk scores and epidemiological data. Overall, the lab bridges radiology, oncology, and molecular pathology to enhance precision medicine in cancer and chronic liver disease.

710547 Background: The mutation status of both the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and KRAS genes have been reported to be important predictors of the efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as gefitinib or erlotinib. 18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is a functional imaging modality based on glucose metabolism, which has recently been used as a common staging tool for non-small cell lung cancer. We investigated the correlations between the s
Introduction: There are two different etiologies of gastric cardia cancer - Barrett's esophagus and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) associated atrophy/intestinal metaplasia. We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcome between gastric cardia and non-cardia cancer. Also, we evaluated the clinical outcome according to obesity, H. pylori infection, and gastric atrophy. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of 90 patients with gastric cardia cancer from Jan. 2003 to 201
The present study aimed to identify potential factors associated with the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).To achieve this, we utilized data from the Korean Genome Epidemiology Study cohort in 2001, comprising 6,291 subjects. These subjects were categorized into 3 groups based on their fatty liver index (FLI) score: FLI 1 group (< 30), FLI 2 group (30-59.9),and FLI 3 group ( 60).We then compared the frequencies of subjects in each FLI group across various anthropometric and
Objectives: In 8th TNM edition, cT1mi was defined as a tumour ≤30 mm with solid component (SC) ≤5 mm. However, the criteria of cT1mi is not supported by any evidence. Methods: We evaluated 763 surgically resected cT1N0M0 stage IA on the basis of the 7th edition of the TNM classification for lung cancer between 2008 and 2013. All tumours were evaluated on thin-section CT. Tumours consisting of only ground glass opacity (GGO) (=Tis) or pure solid tumour (ST) (=T1a, b, c in ST) were excluded and we
