Professor Sang Gyun Kim's research lab specializes in gastrointestinal diseases, with a primary focus on *Helicobacter pylori* infection, upper gastrointestinal tract disorders, and molecular mechanisms of gastric carcinogenesis. The lab is actively involved in evidence-based guideline development for H. pylori diagnosis and treatment, emphasizing clinical applicability and adaptation of international standards to the Korean population. Additionally, the lab investigates key signaling pathways—particularly TGF-beta/Smad and apoptotic pathways—involved in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis in gastric cancer cells, aiming to uncover novel therapeutic targets. Their work bridges clinical gastroenterology with molecular oncology, contributing significantly to precision medicine in gastric cancer.
