研究室紹介

Professor Sang Hoon Na's research lab specializes in cardiovascular pharmacogenomics and functional imaging, focusing on the genetic determinants of drug response—particularly clopidogrel efficacy in East Asian populations—and the hemodynamic significance of anomalous coronary arteries. The lab employs advanced molecular diagnostics, such as CYP2C19 genotyping, alongside quantitative positron emission tomography (PET) to assess myocardial blood flow and coronary flow reserve in patients with coronary artery disease. A key research direction involves evaluating the physiological and clinical impact of complex coronary anatomy, including bifurcation lesions and anomalous coronary arteries, using fractional flow reserve and hemodynamic modeling. The lab also investigates biomarkers like uric acid and pulse wave velocity in relation to cardiovascular risk and metabolic syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Although East Asians carry the cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2C19*2 allele more frequently than do Caucasians, the impact of the CYP2C19*2 allele on clopidogrel pharmacodynamics and clinical outcomes is unknown. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of CYP2C19 variants on clopidogrel pharmacodynamics and long-term prognosis in East Asian patients with drug-eluting stents (DES). METHODS: DES-treated patients taking dual antiplatelet therapy were enrolled from a Korean multicentre genetic registry

BACKGROUND: Recent evidence suggests that the diagnostic accuracy of myocardial perfusion imaging is improved by quantifying stress myocardial blood flow (MBF) in absolute terms. We evaluated a comprehensive quantitative (13)N-ammonia positron emission tomography ((13)NH3-PET) diagnostic panel, including stress MBF, coronary flow reserve (CFR), and relative flow reserve (RFR) in conjunction with relative perfusion defect (PD) assessments to better detect functionally significant coronary artery

OBJECTIVE: To examine physiological and clinical relevance of an anomalous right coronary artery originating from left sinus of Valsalva (right ACAOS) with interarterial course in adults. METHODS AND RESULTS: For physiological assessment, fractional flow reserve (FFR) during dobutamine challenge was measured in 37 consecutive adult patients with lone right ACAOS with interarterial course. At baseline, mean FFR was 0.91±0.06, declining to 0.89±0.06 upon dobutamine infusion (p<0.001). Dobutamine s

This study suggests that the most commonly used bifurcation intervention strategy may cause local flow disturbances, which may partially explain high restenosis and event rates in patients with bifurcation lesions.
