Professor Sang Hyun Hwang's research lab specializes in molecular and nuclear imaging, with a focus on the clinical applications of PET/CT in oncology and autoimmune diseases. The lab investigates metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) as independent prognostic factors in various cancers, including gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Additionally, the lab explores HLA genetic variation in Korean populations and evaluates the diagnostic utility of FDG-PET/CT in autoimmune conditions, particularly splenic uptake patterns.
