研究室紹介
Professor Sangyun Lee's research lab specializes in health services research and translational biomedical innovation, with a focus on organizational behavior in public sector institutions and the development of advanced cell therapies for cancer. The lab investigates how institutional resources and employee perceptions—such as voice, loyalty, and motivation—affect workforce retention and organizational effectiveness in federal agencies. Concurrently, the lab is actively engaged in clinical and translational research on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies, particularly optimizing manufacturing processes and enhancing therapeutic efficacy for lymphoid malignancies. Additionally, the lab explores the biological and clinical implications of dietary components, such as capsaicin, in gastrointestinal disorders, integrating genetics and patient-reported outcomes.

15We assess Hirschman's theory of exit, voice, and loyalty in the context of voluntary exit from organizations in the public workforce. Specifically, we test the effects of loyalty and voice on the likelihood a person states their intention to leave. We assess these relationships using data from the Federal Human Capital Survey. Our statistical analysis provides evidence that perceptions about voice and loyalty limit exit at all levels of the organizational hierarchy. Yet, dissatisfaction with pay
We assess the usefulness of a theory of organizations, the Resource-Based View, for the study of public agencies. We examine the differential impacts of an array of organizational resources (administrative, human, financial, physical, political, and reputation resources) on a core measure of federal agency effectiveness. Our analysis shows that certain types of resources have positive impacts on agency effectiveness, such as administrative (number of members in top governing structure), personne
Abstract Objectives The aim of this study is to present the mid‐term outcomes of Pulsta valve. Background The Pulsta valve is a Self‐expandable knitted nitinol‐wire stent mounted with a treated tri‐leaflet α‐Gal‐free porcine pericardial valve for percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) in patients with native right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) lesions. Methods A multi‐center clinical trial using Pulsta valve® was designed for patients with severe pulmonary regurgitation (PR) in the
Background Cell culture conditions during manufacturing can impact the clinical efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell products. Production methods have not been standardized because the optimal approach remains unknown. Separate CD4 + and CD8 + cultures offer a potential advantage but complicate manufacturing and may affect cell expansion and function. In a phase 1/2 clinical trial, we observed poor expansion of separate CD8 + cell cultures and hypothesized that coculture of CD4 + c
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-based adoptive T-cell therapy is a highly promising treatment for lymphoid malignancies, and CD20 is an ideal target antigen. We previously developed a lentiviral construct encoding a third generation CD20-targeted CAR but identified several features that required additional optimization before clinical translation. We describe here several improvements, including replacement of the immunogenic murine antigen-binding moiety with a fully human domain, streamlining
BACKGROUND: Capsaicin is an ingredient of red peppers that binds to transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1), and Koreans eat more capsaicin-rich food than do Japanese. This study aimed to compare symptom generation according to TRPV1 genotypes and the intake of spicy foods. METHODS: Consecutive functional dyspepsia (FD) patients who were evaluated at Konkuk University Medical Centre (Korea) and Keio University Hospital (Japan) were included. Questionnaires on spicy food intake,
BACKGROUND: Because of the absence of a specific diagnostic test and pathognomonic clinical features, physicians must rely on the presence of specific clinical criteria and laboratory data that support the diagnosis of KD. To help clinicians distinguish KD, KDSS, septic shock, and TSS earlier, we suggest differential diagnosis and treatment guideline. METHODS: Medical records of immunocompetent patients who were admitted to the pediatric department with a diagnosis of KDSS, septic shock or TSS (
The univentricular heart after the Fontan operation may have a blind pouch formed by the pulmonary stump or rudimentary ventricle according to the anatomy before surgery. Thrombosis in an intracardiac blind pouch of patients with a univentricular heart is a hazardous complication. Because only a few reports have described this complication, the authors evaluated the clinical significance of thrombosis in an intracardiac blind pouch of a univentricular heart. They performed a retrospective review
In this study, we selected two essential oils, Citrus unshiu and Cinnamomum cassia with superior antioxidant effects from the essential oils of 7 wild plants in South Korea and examined their antimicrobial activity against Candida albicans, which causes dermatitis to identify the antimicrobial components in the essential oils. As a result of measuring DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity, SC50 value of the Citrus unshiu essential oil was 0.010 mg/mL, while for the Cin
Purpose Analyzing Kawasaki disease epidemiology during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in South Korea using 2012–2020 National Health Insurance Service data. Methods The incidence of Kawasaki disease for 2012–2020 was investigated to identify changes in incidence after the start of the pandemic. National Health Insurance Service data from the Republic of Korea were used. Kawasaki disease was defined based on the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, the Tenth
The Gerbode shunt, known as the left ventricle to the right atrial communication, is a rather rare finding, following surgical closure of septal defects. Even though the surgical closure is accepted as a treatment of choice, we report a successful percutaneous transcatheter closure of the Gerbode shunt in a 3-months old baby who weighed 3 kilograms.
In Asian population with a high incidence of heterotaxy syndrome, the heterotaxy syndrome was identified as the poor prognostic factors for Fontan surgery. The preoperative low mPAP and less AVVR are associated with better early and long-term outcomes of Fontan surgery.
BACKGROUND: As a result of advances in pediatric care and diagnostic testing, there is a growing population of adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). The purpose of this study was to better define the epidemiology and changes in the trend of hospitalizations for ACHD in Korean society. METHODS: We reviewed outpatient and inpatient data from 2005 to 2017 to identify patient ≥18 years of age admitted for acute care with a congenital heart disease (CHD) diagnosis in the pediatric cardiology d
