Professor Se Jin Oh's research lab focuses on the pathophysiological roles of C-reactive protein (CRP), particularly its monomeric form (mCRP), in cardiovascular diseases. The lab investigates how mCRP contributes to tissue injury and inflammation in conditions such as ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), with an emphasis on molecular mechanisms and immune-inflammatory pathways. Their work integrates clinical imaging, histopathology, and molecular biology to explore biomarkers and therapeutic targets in acute and chronic vascular disorders.

15BACKGROUND: The cortical vessel signs (CVSs) on susceptibility-weighted images (SWIs) have been reported in patients with hyperacute ischemic stroke. We showed that when serum CRP level is high, IRI results in multiple miRNA profile changes not only in ischemic areas but also in non-ischemic myocardium. Our results may provide a strong basis for studying the role of CRP and miRNAs in ischemic heart disease.

This study aimed to investigate the clinical implication of surgical resection for the malignancies of heart and great vessels.
