Professor Seabeom Hur's research lab specializes in diagnostic and interventional radiology, with a focus on optimizing computed tomography protocols for improved lesion detection in liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The lab investigates low-dose, low-tube-voltage CT techniques combined with advanced image reconstruction algorithms like IRIS to enhance lesion-to-liver contrast while minimizing radiation exposure. Additional research interests include perfusion imaging for peripheral vascular disease, endovascular interventions for gastrointestinal bleeding, and advanced imaging of post-surgical complications such as lymphatic leakage. Perfusion CT could be used to measure foot blood flow in both animals and humans. It can be a useful modality for the diagnosis of peripheral arterial disease by providing quantitative information on foot perfusion status.
