Professor Seo Jung Kim's research lab specializes in pediatric health and biomedical engineering, focusing on child growth and development, metabolic health in adolescence, and the advancement of implantable neurotechnologies. The lab investigates physiological changes during puberty, including body composition, growth velocity, and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) variability, while also addressing long-term challenges in brain-computer interface (BCI) functionality through innovative biomaterials. A key focus is on improving the biocompatibility and longevity of neural implants using multifunctional surface coatings that reduce foreign body response and signal degradation.
