研究室紹介

Professor Seung Han Hong's research lab specializes in environmental health and risk assessment, focusing on human exposure to hazardous air pollutants, trace metals, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals. The lab investigates pollution sources in urban and indoor environments, particularly volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter (PM), and heavy metals, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations such as children and urban commuters. Key research directions include exposure assessment, health risk modeling (e.g., excess cancer risk), and the development of preventive strategies through environmental monitoring and policy-relevant studies.

SJR Q2Human and Ecological Risk Assessment An International JournalOA

The atmosphere is the first medium containing hazardous compounds entering the living environment. Metropolitan areas contain many industrial complex areas with high emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and consequently also large-scale exposure groups. As respiration is the most important part of the human exposure pathway, the atmosphere should be treated with greater importance than other media. It is therefore very important to monitor the emission of hazardous air pollutants (HAP

Study of the removal difference in indoor particulate matter and volatile organic compounds through the application of plants
Seung-Han Hong, Jiyeon Hong, Jihyeon Yu, Youngwook Lim
Environmental Health and ToxicologyOA

This study was conducted to evaluate the ability of plants to purify indoor air by observing the effective reduction rate among pollutant types of particulate matter (PM) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). PM and four types of VOCs were measured in a new building that is less than three years old and under three different conditions: before applying the plant, after applying the plant, and a room without a plant. The removal rate of each pollutant type due to the plant was also compared and

Environmental Health and ToxicologyOA

Traffic-related pollutants have been reported to increase the morbidity of respiratory diseases. In order to apply management policies related to motor vehicles, studies of the floating population living in cities are important. The rate of metro rail transit system use by passengers residing in Seoul is about 54% of total public transportation use. Through the rate of metro use, the people-flow ratios in each administrative area were calculated. By applying a people-flow ratio based on the offi

The aim of this study was to calculate the health risks which children were exposed to trace metals through several pathways including air, floor dust, wipe and hand wipes in elementary-schools and academies. The samples were collected at children's facilities (50 elementary-schools and 46 academies) in summer (Aug ~ Sept, 2008), winter (Dec 2008 ~ Feb, 2009) and Spring (Mar ~ Apr, 2009) periods. The lifetime Excess Cancer Risks (ECRs) were estimated for carcinogen trace elements such as As, Cd,

An Analysis of Importance for the Prevention of Real Estate Brokerage Accidents
상명대학교 부동산학과 박사수료, Seung-Han Hong, Mun-Su Park
Journal of the Korea Real Estate Management Review

This study conducted AHP and Fuzzy-AHP analysis by comparing brokerage procedures and brokerage systems to prevent real estate brokerage accidents. The AHP analysis results and the Fuzzy-AHP analysis results show similar level of importance when comparing priorities. The results of the Fuzzy-AHP analysis show that the activation of exclusive brokerage shows the highest importance, in the order of mandatory preparation of general brokerage contracts, strengthening electronic contracts, the need f

흡연유무에 따른 EDCs 인식 차이 연구
이용진, 홍승한, 김세형, 김승은, 임영욱

This study utilizes an perception survey result of EDCs(Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals), and in order to compare the difference between EDCs perception levels as per smokers and nonsmokers. About 2,000 Korean citizens were surveyed, and were classified into smokers or nonsmokers, and afterwards, perception upon EDCs were comparatively analyzed. As a result of the analysis, overall, nonsmokers appeared to have a better awareness of EDCs. This study can be used as a base line data in terms of risk
