Professor Seung Ho Baek's research lab specializes in the discovery and mechanistic investigation of bioactive natural compounds derived from plants and traditional medicinal sources, with a focus on their anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. The lab explores the molecular mechanisms of these compounds, particularly their modulation of key signaling pathways such as STAT3, MAPK, and TGF-β/EMT, in various cancer types including lung, multiple myeloma, and head and neck cancers. Innovative point-of-care diagnostic platforms, such as 3D paper-based microfluidic devices, are also developed to support biomarker detection and therapeutic monitoring. The lab integrates molecular pharmacology with translational technologies to advance novel therapeutic strategies.

Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a critical cellular phenomenon regulating tumor metastases. In the present study, we investigated whether ginkgolic acid can affect EMT in lung cancer cells and the related underlying mechanism(s) of its actions.
