研究室紹介

Professor Seung Hwan Kim's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and clinical imaging, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and surgical outcomes in neurovascular and musculoskeletal disorders. The lab conducts interdisciplinary research combining medical image analysis, computational modeling, and clinical trials to enhance the detection and treatment of conditions such as intracerebral hemorrhage, acute ischemic stroke, and chronic low back pain. Key research directions include the development of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems for CT image analysis, optimization of microsurgical techniques for deep brain hemorrhage, and the investigation of imaging biomarkers for procedural complications in endovascular interventions.

The Potential Contribution of a Computer-Aided Detection System for Lung Nodule Detection in Multidetector Row Computed Tomography

SJR Q1Investigative Radiology

The CAD system developed in this study performed the nodule detection task in different ways to that of a radiologist in terms of the nodule size and the nodule type, which suggests that the CAD system can play a complementary role to a radiologist in detecting nodules from large CT data sets.

Conveying shape with texture: experimental investigations of texture's effects on shape categorization judgments

SJR Q1IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics

In this paper, we describe the results of two comprehensive controlled observer experiments intended to yield insight into the following question: If we could design the ideal texture pattern to apply to an arbitrary smoothly curving surface in order to enable its 3D shape to be most accurately and effectively perceived, what would the characteristics of that texture pattern be? We begin by reviewing the results of our initial study in this series, which were presented at the 2003 IEEE Symposium

SJR Q2IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices

Physical device/circuit simulations are used to explore 6T-SRAM cell design and scaling using double-gate (DG) FinFETs with optimized gate-source/drain (G-S/D) underlap. The underlap is designed for the control of threshold voltage (V t ) in the nanoscale FinFET with undoped ultrathin body (UTB). DG FinFETs with underlap are first characterized in terms of for various S/D-extension lengths (L <su

SJR Q3Journal of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular NeurosurgeryOA

OBJECTIVE: Treatment of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains controversial. However, an extensive hemorrhage with a poor mental status is suitable for surgical evacuation. Our experience with the transsylvian-transinsular (TS-TI) microsurgical approach for deep-seated basal ganglia (BG) ICH was investigated. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted on 86 patients with BG ICH who underwent an operation at the Department of Neurosurgery of our Hospital from Septembe

Journal of Physical Therapy ScienceOA

[Purpose] This study investigated the relationship between pain intensity, lumber disability, and psychological factors in patients with low back pain. [Subjects and Methods] A total of 166 outpatients (116 female, 50 male) with chronic low back pain presenting for physical therapy participated in this study. Patients were divided into two groups: those with low back pain alone and those with both low back pain and radicular pain. Pain intensity and lumbar disability were measured using a visual

Background and Objective: Procedural thromboembolism after a mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for an acute ischemic stroke (AIS) has rarely been studied. It may occur from the artery-to-artery embolization of atherosclerotic plaque in the aortic arch. We investigated the relationship between aortic arch calcification (AoAC) on a chest X-ray and procedural thromboembolism on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) after an MT. Materials and Methods: From January 2017 to December 2020, 131 patients underwent

Background and objective: Procedural thromboembolisms after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke has rarely been studied. We retrospectively evaluated factors associated with procedural thromboembolisms after MT using diffusion-weight imaging (DWI) within 2 days of MT. Materials and Methods: From January 2018 to March 2020, 78 patients with acute ischemic stroke who underwent MT were evaluated using DWI. Procedural thromboembolisms were defined as new cerebral infarctions in ot
