Professor Seung-jun Choi's research lab specializes in clinical immunology, transfusion medicine, and precision medicine, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy in infectious disease serology, optimizing rehabilitation strategies in aging populations, and enhancing immune responses to vaccines. The lab investigates rare blood group antibodies, including high-incidence antigens, to prevent transfusion complications, and applies machine learning to predict severe infections in vulnerable pediatric oncology patients. Additionally, the lab explores natural immunomodulators, such as Korean Red Ginseng, to boost vaccine efficacy and host immunity.

15LUMIPULSE G1200 showed well-concordant results with ARCITHECT for hepatitis B serologic tests. However, results near the cutoff values would need to be retested with other immunoassay or molecular methods, when the serological profiles of HBV markers are unusual or are not correlated to the clinical conditions of the patient, due to discrepancies between the immunoassay analyzers.

In this study, we report a case of anti-Gerbich (Ge) alloantibody to a high-prevalence Ge antigen in a donor with Fy(a-b-) phenotype. The alloantibody was detected in an Emirati boy who was admitted to a Korean tertiary hospital for marrow hematopoietic progenitor cell donation. He did not have a history of transfusion.
