研究室紹介

Professor Seung-June Oh's research lab specializes in experimental condensed matter physics and biomedical engineering, with a focus on electron spectroscopy techniques such as photoemission spectroscopy to investigate electronic structures in quantum materials, including Mott insulators and transition metal compounds. The lab also conducts clinical research on urological disorders, particularly stress urinary incontinence and benign prostatic hyperplasia, evaluating patient-reported outcomes, diagnostic tools like bladder scanners, and surgical interventions such as holmium laser enucleation of the prostate. Their work bridges fundamental physics with clinical applications, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and quality of life in urological patients. The lab integrates advanced spectroscopic methods with clinical data analysis to explore both material electronic properties and health-related outcomes.

Resonant valence-band satellites and polar fluctuations in nickel and its compounds
Seung‐June Oh, J. W. Allen, I. Lindau, J. C. Mikkelsen
Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The photon energy dependences of the valence-band photoemission spectra of the Mott insulator NiO, the Pauli paramagnetic metal NiTe, the diamagnetic metal NiSb, and the semiconductor ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}$O have been measured in the vicinity of the transition-metal $3p$ threshold. Resonant satellites similar to those of Ni and Cu metal were found in all of these compounds. The resonance behaviors of the satellites and the main $3d$ emissions are also similar to those of the metals. From these data

SJR Q1Neurourology and Urodynamics

AIMS: Voiding diary duration may be related to patient compliance and burden. To test this hypothesis, we evaluated patient compliance and burden. METHODS: Between January and July 2002, we prospectively evaluated 162 patients (57 males and 105 females, mean age 53.0, range 20-81 years) with stress urinary incontinence or lower urinary tract symptoms. At the initial visit, all patients underwent a detailed clinical evaluation including an International Prostate Symptom Score (I-PSS) assessment a

SJR Q2International Journal of Urology

BACKGROUND: We evaluated the impact of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and overactive bladder (OAB) on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and sexual function. METHODS: A total of 245 women (SUI; n = 123 and OAB; n = 122) from 21 to 79 years old (mean 50.4) were included in the primary analyses. To obtain HRQOL and sexual function assessments, patients were asked to fill in the 'Bristol Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (BFLUTS)' and the 'Medical Outcomes Study Short Form (SF-36)' questio

Current surgical techniques of enucleation in holmium laser enucleation of the prostate
Seung‐June Oh
SJR Q1Investigative and Clinical UrologyOA

Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) has been accepted as the most efficient method of transurethral surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The originally developed three-lobe technique has popularized this surgery; this method is based on three longitudinal incisions, by which the median lobe is removed, and subsequently, both lateral lobes are enucleated. To maintain a consistent surgical plane and to minimize sphincteric damage, the traditional three-lobe technique is continuo

SJR Q1Neurourology and UrodynamicsOA

AIMS: To evaluate whether the bladder scanner with real-time pre-scan imaging (RPI) is superior to the conventional bladder scanner in measuring post-void residual urine (PVR) volume. METHODS: Sixty-seven patients with voiding dysfunction were subjected to PVR volume measurements. The PVR volume was measured three times by two experienced examiners using bladder scanners with (BioCon-500, Mcube Technology, Seoul, Korea) or without (BVI-3000 BladderScan, Verathon, WA) RPI. SUPRANORMAL DIFFERENTIAL RENAL FUNCTION IS REAL BUT MAY BE PATHOLOGICAL: ASSESSMENT BY 99m TECHNETIUM MERCAPTOACETYLTRIGLYCINE RENAL SCAN OF CONGENITAL UNILATERAL HYDRONEPHROSIS
Seung‐June Oh, Dae Hyuk Moon, Weechang Kang, Young Seo Park, Taehan Park, Kun Suk Kim
SJR Q1The Journal of Urology

Differential renal function is higher in larger hydronephrotic kidney but function of the kidney with an obstructive pattern is overestimated on later phases of 99mTc-MAG3 renal scan. Supranormal differential renal function is real and may be pathologic since it is prone to occur in larger obstructive hydronephrotic kidneys.
