Professor Seung Kyum Kim's research lab specializes in urban environmental equity, climate adaptation, and the socioeconomic impacts of green infrastructure. The lab investigates how access to urban green spaces varies across socioeconomic groups, examines the role of greenspace in urban climate resilience, and analyzes the causal effects of environmental policies on housing markets and gentrification. Using advanced geospatial and econometric methods, the lab explores the interplay between urban form, environmental justice, and climate risk perception in rapidly urbanizing regions.

We found that higher storm exposure accelerates the housing price discount caused by augmented flood risk. The study analyzes the distributional equity of urban green space (UGS) among different social groups across all urban areas in China. Urban green space is measured in two ways: Park area per capita and vegetation coverage ratio within 1.6 km and 3.2 km featuring different ecosystem services they provide.
