研究室紹介

Professor Seung-Hee Lee's research lab specializes in advanced materials and biomedical technologies, focusing on nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications, transdermal drug delivery systems, and neuromodulation in the central nervous system. The lab develops functional nanocomposites—such as Nb₃O₇(OH) and indium aluminum oxide films—using atomic layer deposition and other precision synthesis techniques for photocatalytic and electronic applications. It also pioneers innovative drug delivery platforms, including patchless microneedle systems, and investigates molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic and neurological regulation, such as vitamin D signaling in lipid metabolism and cortical neuromodulation. The integration of materials science, biomedicine, and neurobiology defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach.

Identification of a Functional Vitamin D Response Element in the Murine Insig-2 Promoter and Its Potential Role in the Differentiation of 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes
Seung‐Hee Lee, Dong-Kee Lee, Eunho Choi, Jae W. Lee
Molecular EndocrinologyOA

Insulin-induced gene-1 (Insig-1) and its homolog Insig-2 encode closely related proteins of the endoplasmic reticulum that block proteolytic activation of sterol regulatory element binding proteins, membrane-bound transcription factors that activate synthesis of cholesterol and fatty acids in animal cells. These proteins also restrict lipogenesis in mature adipocytes and block differentiation of preadipocytes. Herein, we identified a novel 1alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1,25-(OH)2D3] response el

SJR Q1PharmaceuticsOA

The dissolving microneedle (DMN) patch is a transdermal delivery system, containing arrays of micro-sized polymeric needles capable of encapsulating therapeutic drugs within their matrix and releasing them into the skin. However, the elastic properties of the skin prevent DMNs from complete insertion and accurate delivery of encapsulated compounds into the skin. Moreover, the adhesive materials used in patches may cause skin irritation, inflammation, and redness. Therefore, we developed a patchl

Function of Selective Neuromodulatory Projections in the Mammalian Cerebral Cortex: Comparison Between Cholinergic and Noradrenergic Systems
Hee-Jun Rho, Jae‐Hyun Kim, Seung‐Hee Lee
SJR Q1Frontiers in Neural CircuitsOA

Cortical processing is dynamically modulated by different neuromodulators. Neuromodulation of the cerebral cortex is crucial for maintaining cognitive brain functions such as perception, attention and learning. However, we do not fully understand how neuromodulatory projections are organized in the cerebral cortex to exert various functions. The basal forebrain (BF) cholinergic projection and the locus coeruleus (LC) noradrenergic projection are well-known neuromodulatory projections to the cort

SJR Q3Performance Improvement Quarterly

The emergence of new technologies has made it increasingly easy for distributed collaboration in both educational and noneducational settings. Although the effectiveness in traditional settings of the dynamics of small group work has been widely researched, there is limited research that offers evidence on how teams can work effectively in a virtual environment. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship among team structure, trust, and conflict management style, in addition to the

SJR Q1ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) has attracted much attention, particularly for applications in nanoelectronics because of its atomic-level controllability and high-quality products. In this study, we developed a plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) process to fabricate a homogeneous indium aluminum oxide (IAO) semiconductor film. Trimethylaluminum (TMA) and dimethylaluminum isopropoxide (DMAI) were used as Al precursors, which yielded different compositions. Density functional theory (D

Multisensory integration in the mammalian brain: diversity and flexibility in health and disease
Ilsong Choi, Ilayda Demir, Seungmi Oh, Seung‐Hee Lee
SJR Q1Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B Biological SciencesOA

Multisensory integration (MSI) occurs in a variety of brain areas, spanning cortical and subcortical regions. In traditional studies on sensory processing, the sensory cortices have been considered for processing sensory information in a modality-specific manner. The sensory cortices, however, send the information to other cortical and subcortical areas, including the higher association cortices and the other sensory cortices, where the multiple modality inputs converge and integrate to generate
