Professor Seunghyun Shin's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research, focusing on the development of advanced cellular platforms for therapeutic protein production using targeted gene integration technologies. The lab investigates genomic safe harbors in human cell lines to enable stable, high-level transgene expression with minimal clonal variation. Additionally, the lab contributes to nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, particularly in the application of PET/CT and bone scintigraphy for diagnosing complex conditions such as chronic pain syndromes and tumor metastasis. The integration of CRISPR/Cas9 and recombinase-mediated cassette exchange (RMCE) systems is central to enhancing precision and efficiency in mammalian cell engineering.

Stomach cancer is one of malignancies that may result in pulmonary tumor embolism. Pulmonary tumor embolism commonly presents with dyspnea and cor pulmonale signs. We report serial observations of pulmonary tumor embolism with 18F-FDG PET/CT. 18F-FDG PET/CT scan showed chronological changes of FDG uptake in both lung fields.
