Professor So Jeong Han's research lab focuses on translational hepatology and gastrointestinal oncology, with a strong emphasis on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) pathogenesis, drug delivery mechanisms, and novel therapeutic strategies. The lab investigates molecular signaling pathways—particularly YAP/TAZ and galectin-3—involved in liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and cancer progression, integrating patient-derived models such as organoids and tumor spheroids to evaluate targeted therapies. They also explore minimally invasive endoscopic interventions for GI complications, including fistula and perforation repair using biomaterials like PGA sheets and fibrin glue. Their work bridges clinical hepatology with experimental therapeutics, aiming to improve outcomes in viral hepatitis, HCC, and cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.
