Professor Song, Jae Wook's research lab specializes in interdisciplinary studies spanning clinical health sciences, medical device innovation, and data-driven public health solutions. The lab focuses on improving patient outcomes through advanced nutritional assessment in pediatric critical care, the development of high-precision quantum sensors using metallic magnetic calorimeters, and optimizing urban health infrastructure such as women’s safety delivery boxes in Seoul. Additionally, the lab applies statistical and computational methods to healthcare decision-making, including prognostic modeling in cardiac arrest and algorithm-driven investment strategies in financial markets.

13Introduction: Critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) are at high risk for developing nutritional deficiencies and undernutrition is known to be a risk factor for morbidity and mortality. Malnutrition represents a continuous spectrum ranging from marginal nutrient status to severe metabolic and functional alterations and this in turn, affects clinical outcome. Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess nutritional status of critically ill children admitted to the
This study analyzes the optimal locations for additional installation of women's safety delivery boxes in Seoul. At first, four neighborhoods with the higher installation priority are selected based on Seoul's demographic and delivery-related data, including Yongshin-dong, Jamsil Bon-dong, Hwagok 1-dong, and Haengun-dong. Then, the optimal locations for each neighborhood are discovered and analyzed using the P-Median and Maximal Covering Location Problem(MCLP) algorithm based on realistic travel
Abstract We have modified the fabrication processes of metallic magnetic calorimeters (MMCs) to improve production yield. Key modifications include (i) the stress mitigation of the sputtered Nb film by optimizing the Argon deposition gas pressure, (ii) an optimized SiO $$_{\hbox {x}}$$ x insulator layer fabrication by switching from a lift-
This study investigates the impact of perpetual swaps on structural complexity and market efficiency within cryptocurrency markets. Utilizing 15-minute interval price data from 35 cryptocurrencies, we employ multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA), Multifractal-based measure of the degree of market efficiency (MED), and Market deficiency measure (MDM) to comparatively evaluate market characteristics before and after the introduction of perpetual swaps. Our empirical analysis reveals
Purpose: This scoping review aims to provide established basic data on the characteristics and the effects of rehabilitation nursing interventions for improving the daily living ability and motor functions of stroke patients with hemiplegia to suggest the future direction of rehabilitation nursing interventions. Methods: The study population, concept and context were as of the following: ‘patients with hemiplegia’, ‘improvement of daily living abilities and motor functions’, and ‘published liter
Introduction: Targeted temperature management (TTM) is an important component of post cardiac arrest care. Current guidelines recommend deferring prognostic decisions for 72 hours post TTM. Most non survivors have care withdrawn and some hypothesize that early withdrawal of care adversely impacts survival. Our objective is to characterize hospital length of stay (LOS) post cardiac arrest, its relationship to survival and variation by hospitals using a statewide registry. Methods: We probabilisti
This study presents a model for estimating healthy life expectancy in Gyeongsangbuk-do at the city, county, and district level using machine learning. Quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) was calculated at each level using Graville correction and life tables. Next, 43 factors related to healthy life expectancy, including demographic and health care policy variables, were obtained from national health data. Machine learning was used to estimate healthy life expectancy. It was confirmed that Li
Pair trading is a statistical arbitrage investment strategy. Traditionally, cointegration has been utilized in the pair exploring step to discover a pair with a similar price movement. Recently, the clustering analysis has attracted many researchers' attention, replacing the cointegration method. This study tests a clustering-driven pair trading investment strategy in the Korean stock market. If a pair detected through clustering has a large spread during the spread exploring period, the pair is
