Professor Soo-Mi Lim's research lab specializes in cerebrovascular and neurovascular diseases, with a focus on spinal and intracranial arteriovenous malformations, particularly those involving rare anatomical regions such as the filum terminale and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) segments. The lab investigates the clinical, radiological, and microstructural brain changes in pediatric and adolescent neurological conditions, including epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease models, using advanced neuroimaging techniques like diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and MRI. A key research direction involves understanding the topological organization of brain networks in relation to intellectual giftedness and neuropsychological function.

15BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Although benign childhood epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (BECTS) is known to have good prognosis, patients often manifest neuropsychological impairments. For the endovascular treatment of dissecting aneurysms in the distal PICA segments, we recommend occlusion of both the dissecting aneurysm and the parent artery to avoid leaving the point of initial intimal tear untreated. All of our patients had excellent clinical outcomes; however, our experience with recanalization illustrates the need for close follow-up of patients.
The filum terminale is an anatomic structure at the end of the spinal cord. Only a few cases of AVFs of the filum terminale have been reported. We experienced rare combination of multiple irregular shaped aneurysms along the course of the feeding artery and arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the posterior circulation. We could not explain which aneurysm was a cause of bleeding because all the aneurysms showed irregular in shape like pseudoaneurysms and location of the aneurysms was very close each other. We report two cases in which multiple irregular shaped aneurysms were related with AVMs and first episode of hemorrhage.
Purpose : Hemangiopericytoma(HP) exhibits its pathologic findings different from those of meningioma or oth-erangiomatous tumor; and its clinical behavior is unique and prognosis worse than other cases.
