Professor Soohyun Park's research lab focuses on the intersection of psychological, behavioral, and physiological factors in health and organizational behavior. Key research directions include stress resilience and cognitive coping strategies in high-pressure professions (e.g., air force pilots), the psychological and neurobiological underpinnings of personality and temperament (e.g., Sasang typology), emotional labor and mental health outcomes in healthcare professionals, and neurocognitive mechanisms underlying behavioral addictions such as internet gaming disorder. The lab employs mixed-methods approaches, integrating psychological assessments, neuroimaging (fNIRS), and longitudinal epidemiological data to explore mental health, organizational innovation, and individual well-being.

15This article proposes a theoretical model to understand the ways in which organizations can increase employees’ voluntary intrapreneurship and motivated business information seeking and sharing, scouting, via relationship building. Three management strategies—managerial receptiveness to innovative effort, employee empowerment, and communication symmetry—have been tested for their effects on quality of organization–employee relationship (OER), and the effects of OERs on employee’s intrapreneurshi
The purpose of this study was to examine the biopsychological personality profiles of traditional Korean Sasang typology based on the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) in a Korean adult clinical sample. A total of 97 adults completed the Korean version of the TCI. The participants were classified as one of three traditional Korean Sasang types (31 So-Yang, 41 Tae-Eum, 25 So-Eum) by three specialists in Sasang typology. The seven dimensions of TCI were compared between the different Sasan
Stress is closely associated with not only physical illness but also with indices of psychological maladjustment. However, such negative mental health outcomes may vary depending on the individual’s cognitive style, or perception of stress. Air force pilots are particularly vulnerable to experience a high degree of stress as they are required to conduct missions while simultaneously monitoring for safety in complex and uncertain flight situations. It can thus be posited that appropriate use of c
The degree of emotional labor in nurses has been associated with negative physical and psychological health indices. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between emotional labor and depressive and anxiety symptoms in nurses. Specifically, the study addressed the question of whether anger suppression and anger rumination sequentially mediated the relationship. A total of 99 nurses was recruited from a university hospital in Korea. The questionnaires included instruments asses
Background: Observation of real-time neural characteristics during gameplay would provide distinct evidence for discriminating the currently controversial diagnosis of internet gaming disorder (IGD), and elucidate neural mechanisms that may be involved in addiction. We aimed to provide preliminary findings on possible neural features of IGD during real-time internet gaming using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Methods: Prefrontal cortical activations accompanying positive and nega
AIM: To examine the association between depressive symptoms and all-cause mortality in a population-based prospective study. METHODS: Data from the 2008 baseline and 2011 follow-up assessments of the Living Profiles of Older People Survey involving 14 976 Korean adults aged ≥60 years (59% women) were used. Depressive symptoms were defined as a score of ≥8 on the self-administered Korean version of the Geriatric Depression Scale. RESULTS: During the 3-year follow-up period, 873 deaths from all ca
Micro-EDM drilling of microhole with CFRP has been studied. Effects of the electrical discharging machining parameters on tool wear ratio and machining quality were investigated.
Elevated stress levels in emotional laborers has been documented in a number of studies. To minimize the negative effects of stress, the need to examine potential protective factors has been highlighted. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the differential moderating effect of ego-resiliency on the relationship between emotional labor and salivary cortisol level by comparing two groups of bank clerks deemed to experience different degree of emotional labor. Twenty-four bank cler
