研究室紹介
Professor Su Mi Shin's research lab specializes in clinical and translational studies spanning pediatric neurology, oral biomaterials, veterinary medicine, and respiratory disease. The lab focuses on understanding rare neurological conditions such as meningioangiomatosis-associated meningiomas, optimizing dental ceramic restorations through light transmission and resin cement curing, and evaluating clinical outcomes in pediatric patients with infectious diseases like COVID-19. Additionally, the lab investigates bovine mastitis through milk composition analysis, highlighting a multidisciplinary approach to health and disease across human and animal populations.

15Meningioangiomatosis is a unique, rare hamartomatous lesion. Meningiomas arising in the background of meningioangiomatosis are rare conditions which pathologically and radiologically mimic invasive meningiomas, but have a benign clinical course in children and young adults. In this study, five such cases are reported. To our knowledge, this is the largest reported collection of meningiomas associated with meningioangiomatosis. Less immunoreactivity for progesterone receptor and high Ki-67 labell
Bovine mastitis can be diagnosed by abnormalities in milk components and somatic cell count (SCC), as well as by clinical signs. We examined raw milk in Korea by analyzing SCC, milk urea nitrogen (MUN), and the percentages of milk components (milk fat, protein, and lactose). The associations between SCC or MUN and other milk components were investigated, as well as the relationships between the bacterial species isolated from milk. Somatic cell counts, MUN, and the percentages of milk fat, prote
Only a limited number of children with corrosive esophageal strictures were considered cured by EBD. However, the outcome of repeated EBD was sufficient to allow the children to eat per os prior to surgical management.
We have developed a new HRCT scoring system for BPD based on the quantitative evaluation of pulmonary abnormalities of BPD consisting of the hyperaeration score and the parenchymal score. The HRCT score shows better correlation with the clinical severity of BPD than the radiographic score.
The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the types and thicknesses of glass ceramic plates on light transmittance and compare the degrees of conversion (DC) of resin cement under the ceramic materials. Three ceramic plates with thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mm were fabricated from each of five commercial ceramic blocks in shade A2: high-translucency and low-translucency IPS Empress CAD (Emp_HT and Emp_LT); high-translucency and low-translucency IPS e.max CAD (Emx_HT and E
BACKGROUND: The SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern exhibit distinct features in terms of transmissibility and virulence. This study compared the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in children during pre-Delta, Delta and Omicron waves. METHODS: Medical records of 1163 children <19 years of age with COVID-19 admitted to a designated hospital in Seoul, South Korea, were analyzed. Clinical and laboratory findings during the pre-Delta (March 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021; 330 children), Delta (July 1, 2021
Optimal energy levels for noise-optimized VMI and conventional VMI were 60 keV and at 70 keV, respectively. Noise-optimized VMI shows superior CNRs, SNRs and subjective image quality over conventional VMI, at the optimal energy level.
OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the CT angiography (CTA) findings of pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVMs) in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and to correlate these findings with those of graded contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography (CE-TTE). MATERIALS AND METHODS. A retrospective review was conducted of PAVMs visualized at CTA of patients with abnormal CE-TTE findings (3-point scale). Location, distribution, size, number,
