Professor Suk Kyung Lee's research lab specializes in next-generation wireless communication networks and optical networking, with a focus on enhancing network performance, resource efficiency, and energy saving in heterogeneous and vehicular networks. The lab investigates critical challenges such as burst contention in optical burst switching (OBS), dynamic routing protocols, and interference management in small cell-based heterogeneous networks (HetNets). It also explores energy-efficient communication mechanisms, particularly power-saving techniques that leverage cellular network paging in WLAN environments. In this letter, we propose an efficient power-saving mechanism using paging of cellular networks for WLAN in heterogeneous wireless networks, where WLAN interface is turned off during idle state without any periodic wake-up in order to save power consumption while at the same time, the existing paging of cellular network is utilized in place of beacons in WLAN.
