研究室紹介
Professor Sung-ah Bae's research lab specializes in cardiovascular and molecular imaging, with a focus on developing and evaluating novel radiotracers for positron emission tomography (PET) to study serotonin transporters (SERT) and other monoamine transporters. The lab investigates the pathophysiological role of these transporters in cardiovascular and neuropsychiatric diseases, integrating preclinical imaging, in vitro binding assays, and clinical data to improve diagnostic accuracy and risk prediction. Recent work also explores the application of artificial intelligence, such as GPT-4, in enhancing cardiovascular disease risk prediction using large-scale population data.

15OBJECTIVE: Previous studies that evaluated cardiovascular risk factors considered age as a potential confounder. We aimed to investigate the impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its risk factors on fatal outcomes according to age in patients with COVID-19. METHODS: A systematic literature review and meta-analysis was performed on data collected from PubMed and Embase databases up to 11 June 2020. All observational studies (case series or cohort studies) that assessed in-hospital patients w
The recent introduction of a number of new radiotracers suitable for imaging the serotonin transporters (SERT) has radically changed the field of SERT imaging. Whereas, until recently, only one selective SERT radiotracer was available ([11C]McN 5652) for SERT imaging with positron emission tomography (PET), several new C-11-labeled radiotracers of the -dimethyl-2-(arylthio)benzylamine class have been described as appropriate imaging agents for the SERT. The aim of this study was to conduct a com
A series of new, fluorine-containing substituted diphenyl sulfides was synthesized to serve as candidate ligands for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the serotonin transporter (SERT) and to further probe the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of this class of compounds. Candidate compounds were assayed for their affinities to the monoamine transporters (SERT, norepinephrine transporter (NET), and dopamine transporter (DAT)) in competitive binding experiments in vitro using cloned
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a pressing global health concern. While traditional risk prediction methods such as the Framingham and American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) risk scores have been widely used in the practice, artificial intelligence (AI), especially GPT-4, offers new opportunities. Utilizing large scale of multi-center data from 47,468 UK Biobank participants and 5,718 KoGES participants, this study quantitatively evaluated the predictive capabil
This meta-analysis provides clinically relevant evidence that DES rather than BMS should be selected for elderly patients.
Background: Left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) evaluation using a combination of several echocardiographic parameters is an important predictor of adverse events in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). To date, the clinical impact of each individual LVDF marker is well-known, but the clinical significance of the sum of the abnormal diastolic function markers and the long-term clinical outcome are not well-known. This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of LVDF score in
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a complication of multiple myeloma (MM); however, the clinical outcomes and prognosis are relatively not well known. We aimed to investigate the risk factors of transthoracic echocardiography-defined PH and its impact on the clinical outcome in patients with MM.A retrospective study was performed using data from the Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital database for patients who underwent transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) within 1 month of the MM diagnosis
Early identification of women at high risk for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), with subsequent monitoring, will allow for improved clinical outcomes and generally better quality of life. This study aimed to identify the associations between early menopause, abnormal diastolic function, and clinical outcomes. This retrospective study included 795 menopausal women from is a nationwide, multicenter, registry of patients with suspected angina visiting outpatient clinic. The patients into two groups:
Abstract Background Conventional cardiovascular risk prediction models provide insights into population-level risk factors and have been widely adopted in clinical practice. However, these models have limited generalizability and flexibility. Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable proficiency for use in various industries. Methods In this study, we have investigated the feasibility of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT-3.5, ChatGPT-4, and Bard for predicting 10-year
Introduction Amlodipine, widely used as a first-line treatment for hypertension, has inconclusive clinical evidence regarding its efficacy in patients with heart failure. This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the clinical effectiveness of amlodipine treatment after hospitalization for heart failure in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP). Methods A total of 20,851 patients who were diagnosed with DCMP and admitted for heart failure between 2005 and 2016 according to Korean
SUMMARY Background Generative Pre-trained Transformer 4 (GPT-4) has demonstrated strong performance in standardized medical examinations but has limitations in real-world clinical settings. The newly released multimodal GPT-4o model, which integrates text and image inputs to enhance diagnostic capabilities, and the multimodal o1 model, which incorporates advanced reasoning, may address these limitations. Objective This study aimed to compare the performance of GPT-4o and o1 against clinicians in
