본 연구에서는 신체화 증상을 보이는 환자들이 신체적 질병의 유무에 따라 어떠한 심리적 특성의 차이를 보이는지 알아보고자 하였다. 우선, 신체화 증상을 보이는 환자 중에서도 건강염려경향이 높은 환자들의 신체적 질병의 유무에 따른 심리적 특성의 차이를 살펴보기 위해, 건강염려경향과 관련된 척도에서 유의미하게 높은 점수(T≧65)를 보인 건강염려집단 69명을 선별하였고, 이들을 신체적 질병의 유무에 따라 다시 두 집단으로 구분하였다. 정상 통제 집단을 포함한 세 집단의 심리적 특성의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 신체적 질병이 없는 건강염려집단은 정상 통제 집단과 성격 및 인지적 변인 모두에서 차이가 나타났고, 신체적 질병이 있는 건강염려집단과는 성격 변인에서만 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 한편 신체적 질병이 있는 건강염려집단은 정상 통제 집단과 인지적 변인에서 주된 차이가 나타났다. 다음으로, 신체화 증상을 보이는 환자들의 건강염려경향에 영향을 미치는 심리적 변인을 탐색적으로 살펴보기 위해 상관 및
