Professor Sung-Keon Moon's research lab specializes in medical imaging and molecular imaging, with a focus on advancing diagnostic accuracy in abdominal and neurological diseases. The lab investigates the application of advanced imaging techniques—such as gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI, shear wave elastography, and contrast-enhanced CT—for early detection and differentiation of liver tumors, renal fibrosis, and brain tumors. Additionally, the lab explores the molecular mechanisms of natural compounds like morin in vascular diseases, particularly in modulating vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation relevant to atherosclerosis. The integration of imaging biomarkers with pathological and molecular insights defines the lab’s translational research approach.

15HCCs and AEPs show different enhancing features on the delayed dynamic and hepatobiliary phases of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI. Gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI may, therefore, help to differentiate between HCC and AEP.
Compared with the use of ATCM alone, the combined use of ATVS and ATCM allowed reduction of radiation exposure while maintaining good image quality at contrast-enhanced liver CT.
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of ultrasonic shear wave elastography for quantification of renal fibrosis in an experimental rabbit model. Gliosarcoma is a rare central nervous system tumor usually located in the supratentorial area. Here we report a rare case of a gliosarcoma that developed in the cerebellar hemisphere in a 70-year-old woman. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain revealed an infratentorial mass of which radiological features were similar to those of glioblastoma. Hyper-proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are closely associated with atherosclerosis. Recently, the flavonol morin has been reported to exhibit potent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Therefore, we investigated molecular mechanisms of morin in VSMCs stimulated by PDGF. Morin effectively inhibited PDGF-stimulated proliferation of VSMCs through a G1 cell-cycle arrest, leading to down-regulation of CDK2, CDK4, cyclin D1, and cyclin E proteins. Interest

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound can be used effectively to evaluate focal hepatic lesions and offers unique advantages over computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Serial vascular filling patterns of focal hepatic lesions during arterial, portal, and late phases can provide unique information on lesion characterization and differentiation. 목적 : 경직장 초음파로 전립선부피 측정 시 비후한 중심선이 방광 내로 국소 돌출한 경우 상하길 이를 가장 돌출된 부분부터 측정하는 방법과 방광목 부근의 전립선 기저부부터 하방의 전립선 첨부까지 측정하는 방법 중 어떤 방법이 실제 부피와 가깝게 측정할 수 있는지 알아 보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 상품화된 곤약을 이용하여 20-50 mL의 부피를 갖는 20개의 전립선모델을 제작 하였는데, 중심선의 국소 돌출된 높이를 1 cm 내외로 만들었다. Prolate ellipsoid method 를 이용하여, 두 명의 영상의학과의사가 각 모델의 상하길이를 가장 돌출된 부분부터 전립 선 첨부까지 측정하는 방법 1과 전립선 기저부부터 첨부까지 측정하는 방법 2로 각각 3회 씩 측정하여 전립선모델의 부피를 얻고, 실제부피와의 접근도, 관찰자간의 일치도 및 관찰 자내 일치도를 알아보았다. 결과 : 20개의 전립선 모델의 평균부피는 31.05 mL였고 방법 1로 부피를 측정했을 때 평균부피 는 관
