Professor Sung Mindong's research lab specializes in critical care medicine and pulmonary diseases, with a strong focus on respiratory critical care, interstitial lung diseases, and biomarker-driven risk stratification in intensive care settings. The lab investigates the impact of infectious diseases like COVID-19 on healthcare systems and mortality, explores genetic and clinical features of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in Asian populations, and evaluates novel diagnostic techniques such as oversheathed cryobiopsy for peripheral lung lesions. A central theme is the use of biomarkers—particularly NLR and NT-proBNP—to predict outcomes in lung transplant and critical illness populations.
