Professor Sung Reul Kim's research lab focuses on environmental and occupational health, with a strong emphasis on human exposure to environmental pollutants and their health impacts. The lab investigates the presence and analysis of toxic compounds—such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)—in human biological matrices like human milk, aiming to assess risks to mothers and infants. Additionally, the lab explores psychosocial factors in healthcare workers, particularly nurses, examining how personality traits, resilience, and compassion-related constructs influence job stress, burnout, and well-being. The research integrates analytical chemistry, environmental toxicology, and public health psychology to address both environmental exposures and mental health in clinical populations.
