Professor Sung Soo Cho's research lab specializes in cardiovascular disease prediction, biomarker discovery, and interventional management of acute cardiac conditions. The lab focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy through machine learning models and clinical biomarkers for obstructive coronary artery disease, particularly in high-risk populations such as those with cardiogenic shock or acute myocardial infarction. 15This analysis provides evidence that skipping breakfast is not an effective way to manage weight. Eating cereal (ready-to-eat or cooked cereal) or quick breads for breakfast is associated with significantly lower body mass index compared to skipping breakfast or eating meats and/or eggs for breakfast.
Background: In patients with suspected obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), evaluation using a pre-test probability model is the key element for diagnosis; however, its accuracy is controversial. This study aimed to develop machine learning (ML) models using clinically relevant biomarkers to predict the presence of stable obstructive CAD and to compare ML models with an established pre-test probability of CAD models. Although conventional risk factors were more strongly associated with premature CAD than were biomarkers, adding the 6 biomarkers (hs-CRP, IL-6, RAGE, Lp-LPA2, adiponectin, and RANTES) improved the prediction of premature CAD moderately. We found that hs-CRP and IL-6 had shown a significant contribution in the prediction of premature CAD.
Despite ECMO support, the clinical outcomes of AMI patients with a complication of cardiogenic shock remain poor. Prolonged CPR time is associated with a poor prognosis in patients with AMI treated by ECMO-assisted primary PCI.
