Professor Sung Soo Park's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic respiratory diseases, particularly idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and airway remodeling in asthma. The lab investigates key signaling pathways such as Wnt/β-catenin in driving fibrosis, smooth muscle proliferation, and extracellular matrix remodeling. Additionally, the lab explores genetic risk factors, such as SOD1 variants, in drug-induced liver injury, highlighting a translational approach to respiratory and systemic diseases. Their work integrates clinical data, animal models, and molecular biology to identify novel therapeutic targets.

These findings suggest that rs2070424 of SOD1 is significantly associated with ATD-induced hepatitis. This genetic variant may be a risk factor for ATD-induced hepatitis in individuals from Korea.
