Professor Sung-Sook No's research lab focuses on critical feminist theory, particularly the intersections of modernity, postmodernity, and feminist subjectivity. The lab explores how critical theory—especially the thought of Theodor W. Adorno—can be reinterpreted to address contemporary feminist challenges, such as the paradox of asserting female subjectivity while deconstructing essentialist identities. Central to the lab’s work is the concept of 'non-identity thinking' (nicht-identisches Denken) as a framework for developing a resistant, non-hierarchical subjectivity that resists both assimilation and dissolution in postmodern fragmentation. The lab also investigates the ethical and political implications of this philosophical approach for gender theory, cultural critique, and feminist praxis.

1포스트모던 이론들의 영향을 받고 있는 오늘날의 여성주의는 모더니티에 대한 비판과 포스트모더니티에 따른 해체 사이에서 여성 주체성을 적극적으로 주장할 수만도, 적극적으로 해체할 수만도 없는 딜레마적 상황에 처해 있다. 본 논문은 오늘날의 여성주의가 아도르노의 모더니티 극복의 시도를 재해석하고 이를 전유할 필요가 있다는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 우선적으로 아도르노의 ‘비동일성사유’가 여성주의를 위해 지니고 있는 양가적인, 즉 해체적이면서도 구성적인 주체성의 의미에 주목해 본다. 한편으로 아도르노는 주-객의 위계질서에 의한 ‘동일성의 인식’을 해체함으로써 주체성의 기만을 깨뜨리면서도, 다른 한편으로 주-객의 새로운 ‘어우러짐’ 속에서 얻을 수 있는 ‘비동일자의 경험’을 주장하고 있기 때문이다. 나아가 본 논문은 모더니티와 포스트모더니티 사이에 놓여 있는 아도르노 사상의 독특성에 천착하면서, 모더니티를 극복하기 위해 그의 사유가 지닌 여성주의적 함축성들을 해석해내고, 이를 여성주의 이론에 적
