Professor Sungkyun Kim's research lab specializes in advanced dental biomaterials and digital dentistry, focusing on the development and evaluation of 3D-printed dental prostheses using additive manufacturing technologies. The lab investigates the mechanical properties, accuracy, biocompatibility, and ceramic bonding performance of materials such as Co-Cr and Ni-Cr alloys fabricated via selective laser melting (SLM), casting, and milling. A key emphasis is placed on optimizing 3D printing parameters for clinical fit and long-term performance, as well as assessing cell-material interactions using human adipose-derived stem cells. The lab also explores surface engineering and bonding agents to enhance the durability and reliability of dental restorations.
