研究室紹介
Professor Sungmin Ryu's research lab specializes in supply chain management and inter-organizational relationships, with a focus on the impact of cultural factors, trust, power structures, and environmental uncertainty on governance, monitoring, and performance in manufacturer-supplier relationships. The lab investigates how cultural dimensions such as long-term orientation and collectivism shape interfirm trust, commitment, and conflict resolution in international business contexts. Using empirical methods like polynomial regression and response surface analysis, the lab explores dynamic interactions in contractual and relational governance across diverse institutional environments.

15A new, microfluidic temperature sensor system, based on a thermoresponsive conjugated polymer supramolecule, has been developed. By generating blue-phase polydiacetylene (PDA) sensor droplets using hydrodynamic instability, we were able to monitor the variation of fluorescent intensity of the droplets with respect to the flow temperature.
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to verify the moderating role of trust in the relationships between environmental uncertainty and a manufacturer's propensity for vertical control over its supplier, and between environmental uncertainty and the manufacturer's satisfaction with the supplier performance. It also confirms a threshold effect of trust, i.e. the moderating role of trust is present up until a threshold value of trust is reached.
This study assesses the effects of Long-Term Orientation culture on inter-organizational trust and conflict. This research examines the role of one important cultural factor, namely long-term orientation, as it relates to contractual relationships between manufacturers and their suppliers. As LTO cultures have become accepted as a crucial factor for describing nations, this study should prove invaluable to our understanding of inter-organizational relationships affected by differing levels of lo
Purpose This study seeks to introduce the concept of collectivism, and to assess its impact on interfirm commitment in both high and low collectivist countries. Design/methodology/approach In evaluating the effects of bilateral power structures on commitment, the paper utilizes polynomial regression and the response surface approach. Findings Collectivism influenced a manufacturer's commitment to the relationship with its supplier only in Korea, but collectivism did not influence a manufacturer'
ABSTRACT Research fielded among manufacturing companies has been used to examine the interactive effect of interdependence structure and environmental uncertainty on Interfirm governance where they coexist. An analysis from the responses of 137 purchasing managers in manufacturing firms supported the proposition that changes in the level of uncertainty due to external circumstances increase the extent to which the manufacturers monitor the suppliers when the interdependence magnitude is low. Purpose: This study examines the effects of an embedded network on the contractual relationship between exchange parties under conditions reflecting varying levels of environmental volatility and investigates the role of an important network factor—the embedded network—in the contractual relationship between manufacturers and their suppliers. Methodology: The empirical test was conducted with manufacturing companies in the context of manufacturer–supplier relationships. Construct measures were b
The existence of a high degree of inter-organisational Long-Term Orientation (LTO) is an important factor for developing a successful relationship among the supply chain members. Within a supply chain, a LTO fosters a better understanding by each exchange party, which in turn leads to a more cooperative relationship. This study introduces one aspect of culture: collectivism, and proposes that a collectivist culture can facilitate the development of a LTO among the members of a supply chain. Coll
An important question for retailers is the extent to which control over suppliers should be maintained when there is uncertain consumer demand. This paper proposes that the level of network governance (high or low) affects retailers' level of unilateral control in uncertain consumer demands. The empirical results indicate that when there is a low level of network governance, retailers tend to increase the level of unilateral control over suppliers as consumer demand uncertainty increases. On the
Purpose: Manufacturers in volatile environments should rely on governance mechanisms to reduce the risks inherent in those environments. However, it remains to be determined which governance mechanism a given manufacturer will develop in volatile environments in order to manage the relationship with its supplier. The principal objective of this study is to explain circumstances in which different governance mechanisms function under volatile environmental conditions. Methodology: The empirical t
